Heirloom

2001. Latex cast from skin, resin, thread, pins, moth, perspex. 15 x 65 x 50 cm. / photo: K. McCourt

The process of casting is dependent on the close contact of two surfaces.
The cast is simultaneously an absence (of the original) and the presence of a new object in the world. It questions our notions
of authenticity, and, like photography, can raise suspicions of a manipulation of admissible evidence.
